VIKTORIJA, Riga – A Smart Stay in the City

The hotel had very big and light rooms with old-style decoration, comfortable beds, and plenty of furniture making it really nice. However, it is a bit far from the center which can be reached by bus or on foot in half an hour or more. The location was ok, and the building looks beautiful from the outside.

After enduring a night in a smelly room, the hotel finally provided a better room, though overlooking a busy main road and far from the center. The staff could be friendlier and more responsive. The location is convenient, but road works caused disturbances. The dining options are limited, but the hotel is well-organized and reflects a Soviet-era charm.

The hotel's rooms, despite not matching the advertised ones entirely, had everything I needed, were clean, and the location was perfect with very friendly English and Russian-speaking receptionists. Service was outstanding, although a small chair was used to prevent the door from closing. The location was great, relatively close to the city center and central station, offering easy access to city sights and beautiful art nouveau districts. The dining options were good but limited with an early closing time on business days.

The hotel has its strengths and weaknesses. The rooms had a strong smell of harsh cleaning chemicals and were warm and stuffy despite the weather. On the positive side, they were spacious for two people and included a mini fridge in a separate room, which reduced noise. The service was a mixed bag, with friendly and responsive staff like Milena, but some were not as friendly or helpful. The location was a highlight, being a great base for city exploration, though in a reconstruction area. The dining experience was underwhelming, lacking sweet options. Overall, the hotel offers great value and convenient facilities.
